If you think Monty Python is an actual individual, read no further. You just won't get it. I've been a Monty Python fan since I was 11 years old. A few weeks ago, I fulfilled a lifelong dream, and saw Eric Idle perform Monty Python live.
This CD includes songs and skits from the original Monty Python's Flying Circus series, all the Monty Python movies, and assorted Monty Python albums. For Python fans all the old favorites are on this CD along with some pleasant surprises. It includes Spam Song, The Meaning of Life, I Like Chinese, The Bruce's Philosopher Song, Sit on My Face, Penis Song, Eric the Half a Bee, Medical Love Song, and Always Look on the Bright Side of Life, plus others. As an added bonus, the liner notes include the lyrics to each song on the CD. To help you understand, here are the complete lyrics to Spam Song:
Spam Song was written nearly 25 years before the first spam e-mail was sent. Although written for a skit about hungry Vikings, Spam Song is what gave spam e-mail its name. If you don't understand, read the lyrics again and think real hard. Another special surprise is the original Rock Notes. The band Toad The Wet Sprocket got their name from this bit. You have to listen carefully to catch it. Someone obviously paid attention once. Eric Idle Sings Monty Python rates a perfect 5 BB & B's. The rating comes with a caveat. If you are not a fan of intellectual yet absurd humor, you will be wasting your ducats. To every one else, enjoy! |
